I am not sure if this is the right sub-forum to seek some help, I intend to build a chicken tractor used to house silkie for the purpose of hatching and raising chicks from my regular chickens.

I know if I locate the nest high, I don't see how small chicks can come out and get food, does anyone with this experience?

Yeah, I plan to locate the nest lower, it would be nice if someone can show me a picture of a brooder nest. My existing big coop I built have four big nesting boxes, each with 2 by 6 as a threshold to hold the shavings from getting to the coop floor. My concern is for this design, chicks may not be able to cross the threshold.
