I may be splitting hairs here, but I'm building a brooder for my laying chicks when they grow out of the Rubbermaid bin. I can either make the floor space 2' x 3' and the height 2 3/4 feet, or I can make the floor space 2 3/4' x 3' and the height 2 feet.

I believe that they'll be in there for at least 8 weeks. Not sure when it'll warm up and when I can split the coop up to integrate these gals in with my old ones.

Go with more floor space. How many do you have in there? Ours is only 2' high, but we are only planning on having them in the brooder for three weeks or so until the coop is ready. GL!

I picked up a plastic baby pool and it has been great. Of course they do jump out but they use the ledge as a perch

I've got 4, but will get another one tomorrow.

I was leaning toward more floor space.

    Thanks.
