I have a barred rock that gets out of the run everyday and goes into my building on a shelf and lays an egg. When I go get eggs, I take her and off the shelf and she follows me into the coop. Well for the last few days she has been doing the same thing except she hasn't laid an egg in a few days. She puffs up and growls when she sees me. I have tried to put her in the coop in a nest box with about 6 eggs. No thanks, she would rather have her shelf. So I put a few eggs under her yesterday. She is nuts!!!
