Broody Black Cochin?

New chicken mamma here & not really sure what is going on.

We have 3 black cochins - 2 hens & 1 rooster (all about a year old) plus 2 brown layers (about 20 weeks old).

Things were going great in the month that we have have the birds until yesterday.

We keep the rooster in a seperate pen from the hens. One of the cochin hens yesterday went into the nesting box & doesn't want to come out. We have fake eggs in the nesting boxes. Did take an egg out from under her today.

Is this what people mean when they say broody? What harm is it for the hen? Is this something that needs to be stopped? Am I just overacting?

i have also a black cochin brooding! shes been on there for 2 months! it took us awhile to get some fertile eggs.. but now its 5 days to go til hatch!!
good luck, why not put some fertile eggs under her or some day old chicks, at night?
there is a ton of brrody threads on here, maybe do a search..
