Broody Duck

I have a breeding pair of Cayugas. Female just hatched out a whole nest of ducklings and a feral cat got all the babies. We just bought a trap for the cat, but my question is while she go broody again this season? Should I see about a few babies for her? I've never had ducks hatch out ducklings before.
Not sure if she will, but you can try leaving some more duck eggs out for her to see if she will sit on them.

Every bird is different. It is possible for her to brood again this season, but not likely. Getting her to accept new ducklings could go either way. In order for her to accept them the ducklings would need to be only a few days old and gotten immediately. Even then she may not accept them. I think there is a good chance that if you leave her eggs out next spring she will brood again then.
