Hello! I have seven buff Orpington girls who've only been laying a month and one decided to try out brooding yesterday. She had only one egg under her and as I was so excited about her being broody, I snuck seven more under her last night. She stayed sitting until this after when she got up and then never got back on. 3 hours later the eggs are ice cold and so I was going to just bring them back inside, but are they good for anything?
The one she was on was sat on for no more than 28 hours, the other seven for 17 hours or so.
I sell my eggs usually and promised someone two dozen this weekend and of course I won't give her anything that could possibly have gone bad or has veins etc in it, but looking at egg development charts it seems less than two days makes very little difference. I cracked open one that was a 17 hour one and could see a white bullseye that was about the size of my pinkie nail and protruding just slightly from the yolk so it was developing but I don't know if that's too far along to give to someone.

I wouldn't sell them but you can eat them.

ETA
I don't trust a broody unless she has been sitting for 3 days.
I also usually break a first time broody because they're not reliable.

Yeah, I guess I knew that that's why I even bothered to ask, dang it. Lol. We don't eat eggs, my son is deathly allergic and when I cooked some last time he broke out in hives just from the steam.
I suppose my dogs will eat them. Bleh. Thank you both.
