broody hen and eggs question

    How long does it take before an embryo starts forming in the eggs? If a hen sits on them for a few days, can they still be eaten?

    You can eat them, but you will be eating a partially formed chick after several days, assuming they are fertile, of course. You might want to check out candling threads linked in the sticky on this forum.

    ok this was only 2 days and a few were cracked and they were still in yolk form, so I'm thinking they are all like that and are ok to eat. I will check out that thread.
