I have a broody hen on day 19

i;ve been letting her out for 10 minutes or so every day up until now, should i let her out when she is in 'lockdown' mode

will this have a negative effect on the eggs in these latter days of the hatch or will she still need to be let out every day

thanks in advance for any help

What is your set up like? I never move my broody hen manually, she just goes for water and food herself and hurries back to the nest.

i have a wood box about twice the size of a standard nest box with food and water inside, but i still let her out for 10 minutes each day

she cant get out otherwise because i lock the door

Lockdown is an incubator only nessity. The hen should be able to go off the nest. She will "lockdown" while the chicks hatch and while they get strong enough to follow her to food and water.
