Hi all.

I have a broody speckledy who has been sitting on eggs for a week, and has developed a scratched and bleeding comb. Is she dehydrated? Could it be anything else? Her comb is still red. This is the second time she's been broody this season; last time she successfully hatched and raised 4 ducks - 4-week incubation period, and she did fine, so she's obviously not clueless. Has she just tried to do too much? I've put water right next to her and sprinkle some over her. What else should I do?

Thanks,

Amanda

Maby try bad balm for cow udders. I have heard of people using it for a lot of things, and it may work on her comb, I would let a more experienced person chime in on this befor trying though. lol

Thank you - will give that go. She still seems ok at the moment, but her comb hasn't got any better... she definitely went out this morning for her constitutional and had a big drink, so hopefully she is managing ok.
