broody hen is too broody

    i have a mix breed bantam hen and she hatched a few eggs and when the chicks were around 7 weeks old she went broody again and hatched more eggs! is this normal?

    For some hens, yes. Sounds like you might want to read the many threads on breaking a broody, unless you want continuous chicks!

    Yeah... in NORMAL broody behavior..... a broody that hatched a clutch in early spring and fre range them... etc.... will lay few eggs and quickly raise another cluth in mid summer.... and will do the same the next year.. these are good chickens that are not bred for a special purpose (infinity of crosses) and that have great instinct... so like other birds... good chickens will hatch as many clutches as she can raise in the good weather period ;) ...
