So heres the deal. I have a RIR pullet who has been laying for about 6 weeks (ive owned her for about a month). For the last week or so, she has been displaying broody behaviours. She is clucking constantly, spending hours on end in the nesting box, regardless of whether she has eggs under her or not. She has plucked out feathers from her chest to line her nest, and she fluffs herself up and pancakes into the nest when i try to get her out. The thing is though, she is still laying. So, is she actually broody? I dont have a rooster and i don't want chicks so will not be buying fertilised eggs for her. I want her to keep laying and go back to being her regular self...is a broody buster required? What should I do?
