i had a broody hen and we gave 3 chicks to her. She has been a great mom! Me and my neighbor talked to a employee at a feed mill who said it would be all right to sneak her more chicks. We got two and put them with Michigan(broody hen) at night and all was fine. The next morning, Michigan was attacking one of the chicks and the chick got stuck in the wire fence surrounding the run! but she excepted the other chick just fine. We returned the attacked chick and got a bigger one,but Michigan also attacked that one! Finally we decided to try to other chicks like the one she had accepted earlier. But she also attacked them and the other one she was nice to earlier. So we ended up with only 3 chicks. Why didn't she accept some more chicks? how did she know which ones we gave her first?
