I've got a laying flock of 26 hens and 3 roosters. They are a mixed bunch. I normally get an average of 18 eggs per day and they lay in the same 4 boxes day in and day out. The eggs are distributed fairly evenly between the boxes. Today my blue laced red wyandotte went broody. I expected this and am happy she did. My question is, when I went to collect eggs I got three out of 2 boxes and the other 15 are under her in the same box. Do they communicate? Does she ask them to all to lay in the same box? How do they know? I can't believe she can move the eggs to the box she wants, that just doesn't seem possible. Any body have any ideas?
