A friend of mine (who isn't on BYC for some strange reason) just had a hen hatch out some eggs. The mama is one of these hens: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimberlyjennery/5165862485/ Anybody know what kind she is? We're trying to figure out because she got five live chicks, two hatched and fluffed up but got trampled and there were five unhatched eggs. Wondered what kind of chicken she might be and if she's a bad mama or just hasn't got much instincts to work with.

Those hens are American Game Fowl. They are usually great mothers and are extremely protective of chicks.
