Ok, need some help here. I have two hens (Banty Cochins) sharing one nest of about 8 eggs (including a couple large cochin eggs.) My question is ---- when / if thye hatch do I need to give them Chick starter feed? They are in a coop over a run, with dirt floor, not much for them to eat there. The hens have a feeder with crumbles.
What do I do?
Thanks,
Anne

i put a fence (2.5 feet) inside the coop to separate the new 'family' from the rest of the flock.
mama kept the hens away from the babies, and she could jump out when she wanted.

babies were fed medicated, and stayed separate until they could start jumping the fence themselves (about 4 weeks old)

good luck!
