Broody hens and other chicken’s eggs

my broody hens somehow end up with the other chicken’s eggs to sit on. I can tell because everyone lays different colored eggs. How do they physically get other eggs into a whole different nest box?

They walk over to it and roll it around with their beak. Or the other bird lays it in their box. I've seen both.

I don't know how far a hen can travel this way, but when my dark Brahma was broody I saw her holding an egg in between her wing and her body.

She hid them from me that way and managed to hatch a surprise chick even though I thought I'd taken out all the eggs daily.
