I have a broody silkie....I gave her 6 of her own eggs and she kicked 5 out. So I took them back and just left one. She set on it for a couple of days but has gotten to where she kicks that one egg out now too.

I candled the egg and it isn't developing, but it would only be on like day 5 if she was actually sitting on it continuously, which she isn't. I cram it back under her at least once a day. I know for a fact that she's broody. Why on Earth is she not brooding on the actual egg?

Well, that's the thing.....I've got 3 out of the 5 she kicked out originally in the bator. One of them is developing for sure. The others I don't know about yet. I thought the same thing, so I cracked one and it was unfertile. I cracked a second and it was very much fertile. That's when I put the other 3 in the bator. I don't know if the one she has is fertile, but she chose to keep it over the others on the first day (I put them under her at night.)

SO CONFUSED!
