One of my bantams is going broody for the first time. In the morning she leaves the nest for over a half hour. Is this okay or typical behavior? I would like to have her hatch some eggs and she is the only one of any of my hens that has shown any interest in sitting. Thanks for any input.

If she stays on the nest overnight instead of going to her normal roosting area, she is broody.

A broody normally gets off the nest once, maybe twice, a day to eat, drink, poo, and maybe take a dust bath. A half hour is not an unusual amount of time.

Since this sounds like your first time, I suggest you read his thread. You may already know all this, but you might see something that helps.
