I have a 7 month old Narrangesset hen, presently bunking with some 4 mo olds-hens and toms.

Last few days she has been acting kind of broody- nesting alot, making a weird noise-

Is she getting ready to lay? If not, what age do they usually start?

Do turkeys lay regularly, or do they only lay if they ahve been bred?

What do you do with the eggs if you do not wish to hatch them? (Spring, suire, but not in the dead of winter!)

How old do Toms have to be to "do the job"

Thanks so much for your help!

I have some turkeys that are 6 months old now. They are the giant whites. My hen has been laying for a few weeks now daily. The tom tries to breed her but is to heavy. We just bought some more turkeys to breed her with for chicks in the spring. My hen seems to droop her wings down and would lay down more about a week before she started laying. These are my first turkeys. We eat the turkey eggs just like a chicken egg during the winter. I'm assuming when the tom gets about 5-6 months he might start breeding. That is when my tom started trying to.
