broody?

    what does it mean when a hen goes broody?

    it means instaed of figuring out temps and humidity levels in an incubator you get to watch your chicken act like a mother hen and sit on her eggs!!!

    Yep, it means the hen wants to be a mother.

    Does she stop laying when she goes broody?

    She will lay one or two eggs, then stop laying and just sit on those eggs until her broody time is over. At least, that's what mine always did.​

    A hen that covers eggs to warm and hatch them. Sometimes refers to a hen that stays in the nest for an extended period without producing egg.
