Broody

After going on vacation for a week, leaving my five chickens plenty of food and water, my golden comet is broody and none of the chickens are laying eggs. What can I do for the golden comet and why aren’t all the other chickens laying eggs?

How old are they? Is the weather hot? Did they go without water or food at all? Chickens can take a break laying if it is hot or cold, if they are starting to molt, and for other reasons. If you do not want chicks to hatch from the broody, I would remove her to a wire dog crate with food and water, and a roost if possible, and break her for about 5 days. Do not put bedding in the crate, so that she does not make a nest.

Do they normally free range when you are home and they were locked up for the week?
Change can add stress which could cause them to stop laying.
