broody?

My rir is sitting on the nesting box now. When I try to get the eggs she makes this low growling noise and pecks at my hand. Shes sprawled out on the box. I thinks she broody, but im not for sure. What do y'all think?

Has she been in there for a while ? I've noticed that even non-broody birds often growl at me when they are just laying eggs. She may not actually be growling because she's broody.

X 2 - some bird just don't want to be messed with while on the nest - even a normally pleasant hen can have a grumpy day (can't we all?)
