Is there a way you can make or encourage your chicken to go broody?

From what I have read on here, it just happens, but you can use the search function or wait for somone to connect a thread here. The more experienced byc'ers are very helpful that way. Some breeds are more apt to set than others. Good luck and

I have left eggs in the nest before and had a hen go broody but i can't say if it was just her time or that encouraged her. I prefer to let the hens decide when they want to set.

Thank you! I just gave my hen a nest box with hay in it and she made a nest right away and now theres 6 eggs in it. She adds one each day.
