I have a young pullet, she's 3/4 americauna and 1/4 barred rock. She is very pretty and looks like a breed all here own. Just a few weeks ago she started laying little green eggs. Now, she's on day 3 of setting on eggs, apparently trying to hatch them.

She's 3/4 americauna, was hatched in an incubator, and isn't even laying normal size eggs yet!!! Is this normal? I'm happy to have a broody, but since she's so young and inexperienced, I'm a little worried.

A couple other chickens layed in the nest before she went broody, so if she does her job right, she might just hatch a couple of chicks out.

You can never tell when they will go broody. It is good to know the instincts are there.

You may already know everything in this link, but I'll send it anyway. It sounds like this might be your first time with a broody so it might help. If you don't need any of this, then just accept my congratulations and good luck.
