My daughter brought 2 roosters to the local auction on monday. A Light Brahma and a GLW, both 17 weeks. She got $13 a piece. WOW! Needless to say, she was very happy, as we had been discussing giving them away.
She did very well! Ive been to our local auction a few times, just as a spectator, and full grown roosters sell well, $10-15 each. I can't imagine what people would want a big old rooster for, but they do.
That is a great price for the seller. I sold 3 three month old cockerels at the Oakdale auction last weekend and got .50 each!!! I should have waited till they were older. They were Norwegian Jaerhons too!
I have found that the older they are the better they do. I sold a black Orpington Roo 1year old and got 20 dollars. Half growns dont' bring anything but then you have to consider how much it cost to feed them out too.
