My Rooster Johnny is a RIR/ Leghorn mix. Very pretty boy!!! I brought in a hen from a rescue type situation, she was living in a small rabbit cage with 2 roosters and part of her comb has been ripped off from them fighting with her. [IMG]

I put her in a quartine pen, and ever since Johnny saw her he hasnt shut up!!! He is normally a quiet boy, a lil crow in the morning and a lil in the evneing when we take the kids swimming.

Any reason for this behavior? Should I be concerned about him trying to get to her? She is beautiful RIR, deep maghony color. Im in love already. [IMG]

I'd say you're not the only one in love. [IMG]
He just wants to do what roo's do, make her acquaintance, invite her over for a peck or two for dinner, then have his way with her. Just give 'em time to settle in.

SO he's trying to a gentleman caller, or a gentleman crower [IMG]

She is suprisingly friendly considering what she came from. Ive been told she still lays almost an egg a day even in that crappy situation. Maybe after her quartine she will teach my slackers what to do, my buff is almost 6 months old and hasnt laid an egg yet.

    Hes serenading her!!

He should quiet down once she is with him and the flock. Mr. Rooster is so much louder when one of his girls is broody. Its like he wants her to know exactly where he is incase she gets off the nest and hes not there waiting for her LOL. Even if its 2 acres away LOL.
