I have 11 adult Brown Coturnix Quail. I set 33 of their eggs in the incubator. They're hatching today and we see a white chick in there. How would that happen?

In the past, there was white in the blood. All colors derived from somewhere [IMG]

Just a white. Obviously at least 1 male and 1 female carry the recessive white gene. In my experience you can usually 'see' it through white feathers scattered randomly on the bird.

    Could it be an albino?

Quote:Doubtful. I've never seen nor heard of someone hatching an albino coturnix.

Definitely not albino, lol. But the white quail and my baby chicken look like twins [IMG]

I've never seen one either, I searched and found a thread on it though.
