I purchased these little ones about 3 weeks ago from a local feed store. They were at least a couple of weeks old then. Apparently the store hadn't had much success selling the chicks and I felt sorry for these due to the fact they were crammed in a tub meant to house chicks of just a few days old. They were both missing their back feathers due to pecking and needed a little TLC.
Anyhow, I asked to make sure these were pullets and I was assured they were. However, their combs seem to be developing faster than my other hens. Not sure if it's a breed thing? Any insight would be super!

Those all look to be pullets! [IMG]

I was amazed how fast the combs developed on Leghorns compared to the other breeds (RIRs, BSLs, EEs) that my friend raised this spring. If they're flesh-colored, then they're pullets. If they're red, then you've got a problem, LOL. [IMG]

My vote would be both are pullets.

they look like my white leghorn gals. the combs look like my leghorns. i wouldn't know for a fact if they grew faster though since my only other breed was a male bantam with a huge red comb. i have seen pics of others around the same age though. i wasn't sure for a while of mine's age for that very reason.
