brrodies???

    hi i was just wandering is it too early in the season to use a broody also should i use a bantam or a LF for 6 sussex eggs ??

    Depends on your weather where you live, I'd use a standard chicken to hatch all of those eggs.

    Agreed. It depends on your area, current weather (maybe) and hens. I've had 6 girls go broody recently. 3 in the dead of winter and 3 that are currently sitting (one has eggs due to hatch tomorrow!).

    Depending on how big your bantams are, they could most likely deal with 6 Sussex eggs. My Silkies could easily cover that many, but the Old English Game bantams I used to breed could probably only handle 2 or 3 :)

    hi i live in the south of England an by banties are silkies and pekins (cochins) and some crosses my big hens are marans x,goldlines,leg horns
