In the Brooder
Hi,
As I was closing the chicken run door today, one of our four week old chicks tried to run through and got his leg slammed in the door!
The leg doesn't appear broken but has a bruise and two small cuts on it - but he doesn't want to put weight on the leg for any length of time - stepping very gingerly or hopping.
I've cleaned up the wound and wrapped a bandage around his leg, and he's spent the day in the brooder instead of outside. Seems to be doing slightly better on the leg now.
Now it's night, and I'm bringing the other guys in - I've built a mesh brooder partition but he seems pretty distressed to be separated from flock mates - is it best to keep separated while he heals or can they hang out together?
Is there anything else I can do to help?
