This is Philip, my buff cockeral at 4 weeks old. I bring him in the house occasionally to tame him up. Hes scared so he squawks a lot. Stuck him in a fanny pack and hes a happy fella. Look at that bright red comb. He had that at 3 weeks old. The girls dont have that at all. Their combs are light tan or pink but this was screaming Roo. You can tell easily.
My Buff Brahma Bantams are now 10 weeks old. One started crowing today. It was soo funny. Sounds like hes got a sore throat and can barely get it out. I dont thing he will be anywheres near as loud as a full size rooster. These bantams are cute. Cant wait for the babies in the spring.Im totally smitten. Their friendly and very sweet. They gather around my feet and follow me around the pen. We will be putting the roosters except one or two in the freezer . I think the bantams are a good starter bird if youve never processed before. I feel more comfortable with trying this with such a small chicken.
