Buff Orpington chicks.

Hello, I ordered 50 straight run buffs from mt healthy and they are now 2 weeks old. They are just adorable. My question is why do some have tail feathers and some don't. 12 of them seem to be feathering much slower.

Dont know about buffs as my buffy died at 3 days old but Delawares if tail feathers are slow to come in its a boy.

When I got the buffs I also got some rir roosters and they look just like the buffs with the tail feathers. So I thought maybe the tailless were girls? Not sure if you can tell them apart at this age or if every bird just feathers in at a different rate regardless of its sex.

My Buff Orpingtons came from Mt.Healthy as well. I got them in April of this year. I bought 15hens and 2 roos. One roo died the following day. One turned out to be a buff rock. Don't know how that happened. They're now 6mos. and I have seven laying daily. So our chickens are most likely family.

Mine all feathered out pretty quickly and grew like wild fire!!
