I was trying to use the search functions and finding similar sexing posts for buff Orpington and I saw a post that said their BO was a hen but had a red comb and wattle and she had seen the hen lay an egg so it was a fact. Could that be a possibility or do the hens comb and wattles form later? I got these from the local feed store as pullets. I'm kind of upset that they all turned out to be roosters! :-(

A girl's comb will not develop and turn red until they are close to laying. Usually around 14 to 18 weeks. No pullet will be bright red before ten weeks old. Sorry, but you have boys.

Well ****! Thank you. I guess I better start making some calls! It's my luck that they all turned out to be roos. I wonder if the feed store has some kind of guarantee. I should have just ordered from a hatchery!

I bought them as pullets. Not too worried about the money but more upset that i was expecting to have 6 layers by the end of the year.
