I received these two chicks from a hatchery. They were the only two buff chicks ordered, so I have definitely not confused them with any others from the group. They should be buff orps, but the leg color doesn't look right to me.

I thought maybe buff rocks, but the hatchery doesn't sell buff rocks (at least, none show on their website).

They are happy, healthy, friendly chickens and are running about the same size as their australorp brood mates. I'm going to check with the hatchery, but what do you guys think they are?

I still say they are Buff Rocks. Definitely call the hatchery about it, especially if those are not on their list. If you were counting on breeding Buff Orps, you cant use these.

Pure Buff Orps would have white legs.

Sometimes really young BO chicks will have a yellowish tint to their legs but it will change to white.Never should they be orange though.

Thanks you guys, I will call them. I had no plans to breed these particular chickens, so that part is all right. They will just be happy egglayers and that's fine.
