I've got Buff Roos, I'd like them to cover Black Hens. What color combo will this give me? Any ideas?

My guess is largely blackish pullets with gold/rusty necks and upperbreasts.
The cockerels might be more buffish.

This exact cross has been done before.
But buff can be build in more than one way eg with or without Db-gene.
It also has some mysterious components.
Black can also be build in more than one way eg extended black or birchen based.

Shellie, the next gen after the buff over black, depends how you breed back, you got some split lav/blacks there and may end up down the road with creams of some sort depending how you breed things back to each parent line..It would be cool to see what happens..

You could lose track of your lavender-gene that way... [IMG]

First recreate lavenders by mating split to split or buy one.
Then cross a lavender with buff.
Then mate buff/lavender split to buff/lavender split.
