started on my tractor today.
4' wide, 9' long, 4' high run.
the coop will be 30" deep, 4' wide, 36" high at the peak.

i have a buddy raising me a few silkies. they will be ready to come home in a few weeks. i needed a bigger place for them.
my kids are excited with the build. they want a few more chickens. i will have room for a good 6-8 i think.
my girls in their soon to be too small hutch,

they didn't like my shotgun mic wind sock on my camera when taking their picture.

thanks for such a great site, i have learned a lot while lurking. had to sign up. more pictures to come.

getting close to moving the girls.
just need a few little things, door latches, hanging water bucket, wheels.

i picked up a few little girls for my kids to help raise.
picked up a buff orpington, plymouth rock, and a black australorp.
hope the older girls get along with the younger girls.

Chickens are so much fun :)

The chicken wire on your run will only keep chickens in, it won't keep predators out. I really recommend going with hardware cloth because that will also keep rodents out.

I would do some research (here, of course!) before introducing your chicks to your hens.

my big girls have spent a few days in their new place.
they love it. laying in the sun all day, chasing bugs and trying to beat each other to, well, anything.
i did have to help them find the roost the first night. they didn't know what to do. i pushed them into the coop. then had to pick one up and place it on the roost board.
just got home for night 2, they are on the roost and all is well.

they are eating a lot less crumbles now that they have greens and bugs all day.
my kids lock themselves in the tractor and hang out with the birds, for hours.

hope the little girls going in the tractor in a month goes well.

I like your tractor coop! Does it have wheels? Is it mauve in colour?

I don't have an Australorp, but I am quite enjoying my Buff Orpington and Barred Plymouth Rock.I hope to add either an Easter Egger or a Polish soon for variety not only in birds, but egg colours, too.

it doesn't have wheels yet.
i can pick up the light end and drag it around. wheels this week. i have to move the girls tonight as they sleep. get them on some fresh grass. they mowed it down good in two days.
the coop is a grey/mauve color. Home Depot oops paint. $5
