Hello! We have Bumblefoot in both feet of one chicken, and want some advice about next steps and whether we should see a vet.
saw Bumblefoot on Weds. evening, soaked feet Thursday morning. Thursday evening, got black scab off of one foot but could get no puss or core out. Couldn’t get scab off of the other foot without cutting, which we decided not to do. Applied neosporin, Vetrycin spray, and wrapped it. Soaked again on Friday am/pm. Pictures below are from Saturday am.
The foot that had black scab removed has a little fresh puss and some black coming back to the bumble, but has not come out. It’s still under the skin. The foot that didn’t have black scab removed looks about the same - maybe the bumble is a little bigger.
Questions:
At what point do we go to vet to get oral antibiotic?
Do we stay the course for a few more days to see what happens?
Do we go with more aggressive surgery ASAP?
This is our first bumble foot episode, so we are uncertain about how patient or how aggressive we should be.
