He's almost 5 months old now.....he crowed for the first time today.
Wow! What eye candy! Can I have one?
He reminds me of his daddy, just with some more white but he's still young. His daddy lives down the road now with the guy who built my fence. He begged me for a roo and I was going to butcher him that day. I told him he may be a pain, but he wanted him anyway. He has a few hens running around and they go broody a lot so he wanted a roo for fertile eggs.
The sheen on his feathers is really pretty - a blueish green in the sun - after he did his funny crow this morning, my bantam roo came up to kick his - BUM. SO funny seeing a tiny roo trying to take CHARGE - this guy is HUGE compared to the bantam.
I hope there is no "trouble" in my back yard - or someone will need to go.
What a striking young guy.
Finally I get to ooooooh over your chooks
Has he layed yet?
Being a huge fan of speckled sussex's and other english breeds I have to say thats one HANDSOME roo!!!!!!!!!!! congrats!!
Quote:Not yet - I'm waiting, should be ANY day now - I'm just DYING to know what color egg he'll lay. He hatched out of a LOVELY perfect shaped brownish pink egg.
I might sell some if you're interested.
At any rate he is a handsome guy!
