Ok, so actually, DH dropped the ax, but I held her. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, but afterwards, I did tell DH "I can't believe I just let you kill a chicken that I raised from a chick!"

I was just going to get rid of her in a couple of weeks at the Oregon swap, but after she viciously went after another chicken (twice her size, btw) tonight, I had had enough, and did not feel that I could in good conscience, send her off to another home to terrorize someone else's chickens.

It wasn't fun, but now I know we can do it, so when Spring rolls around, we will be doing all the extra roos that we hatch out ourselves, rather than paying someone else to do it!!
