Is it safe to butcher molting laying chickens for eating?

Yep. I just got rid of some spent layers that are molting, advertised it'd make them easier to pluck lol

It's perfectly safe to eat them, but plucking them is a royal pain with all those tiny newly emerging feathers popping in. I just processed a handful that were in various stages of molt, and I ended up skinning a few of them because I couldn't get them pretty enough to suit me. (Note to self- really need to get that paraffin to help in cases like that.)

    Good luck.
