I am getting a 60l tropical fish tank for community fish, what fish can i get and how many can i get in the tank. I also already have a 20l tank which i will use for breeding guppies. how many could i get in that tank.

that didn't quite tell me everything

sorry

what else did you want to know, you weren't very specific... Guppies are a little smaller than swordtails.... that's a close comparison... it also depends on how much "stuff" you have in the tank, vs volume of water. General rule was an inch per gallon, but it also depends on the "output" and type of the fish... the second link explains that.

Everything depends on the type of fish you choose. You want to take in to account the aggressiveness and size when deciding on what to get.. it also depends on how involved you want to be with food requirements etc...

how many gallons is 60l? if it is a decent sized tank i would say guppys guramis swordtails mollies plecostamous a bottom feeder like a cory catfish and atleast 6 neon tetras the guramis are listed as semi agressive at the petstore but by keeping thm in a large tank i have found they are just territorial they will find a stone or decoration they like and just chase other fish away from it so if you have more then a 20gallon tank they will be fine these fish i have always broken the 1inch per gallon rule and got the tanks pretty crowded but the fish lived very peacfully and happy for yrs the guppys even breed

Ditto what silkydragon said. We have tried a few times with others outside the "community" label and it just doesn't work no matter how hard we try. Mollies seem to be the most hardy and I always enjoy danios. Our 24 gallon tank has been set up for 15+ years. We like to keep some kind of shark in the tank. We have also had large colorful goldfish with the bugeyes ("Olive Oil & Popeye"). Once in awhile we get a betta (one only) and they are pretty, too. Some of the fish last for years and others not so long. Just vary your fish with colors/patterns and know that it'll be like a garden with different things at different times. Most of the pet stores will have labels to help guide you. Go shopping without buying and get to know the stores in your area--they can be a big help.
Enjoy!!!

i think of one fish as a neon tetra. Every other breed would count as 2, 3, 4 depending on how much larger they are to a neon tetra. guppy=2 fish, honey gourami=3-4 fish, mollies=3-4 fish. i know it sounds pretty wierd or hard to understand, but how many neon tetras would fit in a 60l/ 14gal tank

I think about 10-14 neon if you go by the inch a gallon ratio.

There are also chiclids that are pretty cool fish, cool colors etc. But they tend to be more aggressive so you couldn't keep with community fish.

If you pick fish based on the Layor they prefer to hang out in the water you'll also have less conflics ..corydoras are cool little catfish that'll help keep the tank bottom clean, but it's recommended to keep 2-3 of them. I also had good luck with Gourami's but they get large.
