Calico Orpington, gender? Update he just strarted crowing!

Calico Orpington near 6 months. Seeking anyone who has experience with this somewhat rare breed to weigh in on gender? Please explain your opinion. Really needing a keen eye here. Much appreciated.

Yes, I own Orpingtons.

Male specific feathering.
Absolutely a cockerel.

Definitely a cockerel. The English Orpingtons develop slower and sometimes I second guess myself at a younger age with mine, but in the next couple of months he'll fill out and start crowing if he hasn't already.

Butt looks boy. But at six months I would have thought comb would be bigger. I am thinking male though. BTW I also love your other roo

I'm pretty good at it too but this one is perplexing. Cali-orp hens and cockerels are sometimes similar in early stages. I guess I'll have to wait another few weeks.

Yes, but this isn't early stages. I trust Happy, so I'm going to go with boy.

I'm guessing it's because of that other roo (who is drop-dead gorgeous) that this one is lower on the pecking order and hasn't crowed yet.

Of course, that's an assumption. OP can confirm whether they've heard crowing or not.

Oh yes sorry Nando is the D-Brahma, totally awesome 7 mos roo. Big Mack Daddy protector. Seems to be tolerating Poppy who I'm guessing I should rename Peppy.

Hope you can find a good home for Peppy.

Right now they're all good but come spring,,,,that will be the test I guess. I'll have 10 hens with them. We'll see.
