call duck hatching-pics of the experience included

Hi all. Today is 28 for my Call and Cayuga duck eggs. I have no signs of hatching or pipping at all. The temp was raised when I arrived at school about 104. Do I leave them in and see for a few days? Or should I just break the news to my 2nd graders that they are not going to hatch? Thanks.

Do you sell call eggs or ducklings? I'm in VT and want calls but they are hard to find.

Added one more to the brooder last night and all are getting stronger and eating and drinking! Still 4 in the incubator, almost done resorbing, with just the tiniest string connecting them to the shell, so definitely when I get home from work, should be able to go into the brooder. Deformed beak baby is just about finished hatching too and he looks like he will be able to eat and drink ok, so we prob keep him just for fun, but not for breeding.

Pampered Chef: I just started with calls this year. It is really hard to find people around here with them and the ones people have were not great quality. I bought breeder/show stock from holderreads last Nov and started looking at some of the shows. I bought some reasonable looking parent lines and have just started hatching. I will be selling babies this spring and summer as we progress. I will most likely be waiting until they feather in before selling so we are able to see how they are developing for showing purposes. I'm not selling eggs yet because I'm hatching them! I can let you know when I have babies we wont be keeping if you like.

Congrats on the ducklings! I have bad luck with calls too, and I've had to help out with all my hatches. This was because my first attempt at hatching, I had an egg reach maturity, heard the peeping and wiggling, and then....nothing. It died within the shell. So sad!!
So from then on, I helped out with all my hatches. It does not seem to harm the ducklings, once they have gained strength--just like your babies! In fact, I still have the very first call duck I successfully hatched. She is almost 3 years old and is as adorable as they come!

6 now in the brooder, tumbling and rolling over each other! Getting stronger and stronger! One still in the incubator dragging his shell around like a leash! Its just about dried and ready to fall off! I will post some new pics tomorrow when our internet is better. Satelite and rain = bad connections!
