The reasons for raising chickens are many and compelling: an
alternative to the mistreatment of chickens and pollution of factory
farms; eggs that are fresh, great-tasting and nutritious; chemical-
free bug and weed control; manufacture the world’s best
fertilizer; and fun and friendly pets with personality! Topics include:
    - understanding the “culture” of chickens
    - nutrition and general health care
    - sustainable shelter design
    - how and where to purchase your chicks
    - preparing for the arrival of your chicks
    - local efforts to promote keeping backyard chickens

    Presented by Bill Ruppert,
    St. Louis area urban chicken
    enthusiast, and Felicia Breen,
    Alton chicken activist.
    Donations collected will be
    sent to Bill’s favorite non-profit,
    Gateway Greening."
