In the Brooder
We have 7 4wk old chicks which were incubator hatched and then a mumma hen who hatched 4 herself at the same time. Can the bator chicks be put in with the mumma and her 4 or would she attack them?

Thanks. Currently she is in a large crate but I dont think thats big enough then. She will just have to get moved out to our little coop and the chicks put in the crate. Running outta space!Unless she is a very mild mannered hen and they have lots of space, she may very likely attack them. If you give it a try, have a 'Plan B' in mind and monitor the introduction closely.
Thanks! This is what we thought. But thought I would ask. We also have 2 more broodies and 12 grown hens - so currently have them all over the place - was hoping to amalgamate!I wouldn't risk it.
They won't understand what this strange, fluffy bird is, and she will probably realize she has seven extra chicks.
