Can 7-8 week olds handle an overnight temp of 40 degrees?

I would think so do they still go under it or do they not seem to care that it is there?

My EE's do still go under it occasionally at night. There are 6 chickens in the coop though and my 7-8 week old EE's are larger than everyone else now. That's why I was thinking they'd be ok without it. They'll occasionally lay under it and "sunbathe" on their sides. [IMG]

Personally i would leave it on for them just in case it gets colder than expected

I give cardboard nest boxes with a pop door hole cut in the side with bermuda hay bedding in there and if they want to stay warm they go in the little box and snuggle with their pals. No light. They barely poop in there at all.

If they are in a draft free coop, I think they would be fine without it.
