Aside from the problems with temperature, I was wondering whether it was advisable to keep a 1 month old Australorp with a 1 week old speckled sussex. They are both girls and I'm hoping, not aggressive. I know the Australorp will be much bigger, but I am only getting 2 chicks and the sussex might get lonely on its own. Would it be easier to keep them separate (I have a 7 week old light sussex that might become friends with the australorp) or keep them together? In my experience with silkies, the older ones don't mind the younger ones at all but I know not all birds are as nice..[IMG]

Best I can suggest is give it a try. Since both will be entering a new environment, it may work. If not have two pens ready and seperate them if physical damage takes place.

I have 7week Japs with 6, 5 and 3 week Japs with them. I just added a 2 day old baby.
Just watch them and separate if things go a bit too rough.

I have done it with week olds and 6 week olds without any problems.

Yeah, I put them together today [IMG] It went fine! I still am going to double check later, but what I saw just then was a tiny fluffy but poking out of a larger, black butt [IMG] It looks like I've got a young mummy [IMG]

Gives me a bit of hope. I have a 4.5 and 5.5 and I was CONSIDERING adopting another because I will need to rehome the one who turned out to be a roo!
