I'm after some advice as to whether my favourite hen 'Wanda' is poorly or gone broody. She's at least 5years old and rarely lays an egg, she certainly hasn't this spring. We've had her for 3 years and she's never gone broody.
Yesterday morning she was her usual cheerful self and then became quieter as the day went on. By mid afternoon she took herself off to the coop and remained in there. She's only come out a couple of times today to eat and drink. I noticed some green poop in the coop. She's bright eyed and her comb looks good. When she's in the coop she's puffed up and I noticed the parting of feathers on her chest that my other broodies have had.
Could she really be broody when she's not in lay and is an older girl?

It sounds more like she's not feeling well.

Keep an eye on her, if she stays in nest for 3 days and nights....
.....hisses and growls and bites when you try to take her out.....well you probably know.
I think broody is possible.....not sure what you mean by green poop, pretty normal.
