My husband brought home these 4 girls about 2 months ago. They have grown quite a bit in the time that we have had them. They love to be free range and will perch up in the trees during the day but return to the coop at night. They definitely stick together, where one goes, they all go. I've tried researching but havent had any luck. Last week we brought home 5 more hens. My husbands friend was moving and could not keep them so we adopted them into the coop. We have a 4ft x 8ft coop that is 7ft tall so we figured we had the room. All of the hens would pile in at night and out in the morning. Then, 4 days ago, not a single girl came home at night. The next night, 7 out of the 9 returned. The younger 4 were really high in the trees the next morning.

This weekend we built them a 20ftx22ft run so we can keep them safe. We really have become quite fond of our girls and want to keep them safe since we live on a lot surrounded my woods. With the 5 newer hens already laying, we would like to identify the 4 younger ones to see if/when they will start laying and will they learn from the remaining three older hens that we have left? Any info would be greatly appreciated!! I snapped these pics of them the first couple of days that we had them before we decided to build the coop for them. Thanks in advance!!

I'm still learning how to do all of this... Here are more pics.

Not sure of this, but they look like an old English game chicken! Or a mix between a speckled Sussex and an old English game chicken!
Thank you! I did see the Old English Game Chickens and thought that they looked similar but I will Google the Sussex. I haven't heard of those. We are brand new to chickens so Im still looking to Google and this forum for any and all info that I can get! Here's a couple more pics that might be a little better.

I said maybe some speckled Sussex mixed in because 1 or 2 had a similar pattern

Thank you again! We definitely want happy chickens so that will help me with researching what their tendencies are and remove some of the trial and error so we dont irritate them.
