Can anyone Help with the breed and age ?

    Hi im new to the site and new to keeping backyard chickens :) and having fun learning new stuff.

    we grabbed some hens and a rooster to join a few other hens we have , they seem to be settling in ok, although the rooster seems to be not very dominant wih is why im thinking he is young im not sure .

    That is a brown leghorn hen.

    Yes. It is a hen. All birds pictured are female.

    dam i feel stupid now, maybe the guy who sold us them didnt have a clue either like us lol

    thanks so much for clearing it up we can now look for a nice rooster would you recomend a breed for these hens ?

    It's fine, it can be tricky at first. [​IMG]

    Why do you want a rooster? I assume you aren't trying to breed purebred since you have a mixed flock?

    to see if we get along with breeding or laying i guess purebred is not on our minds no

    Ok. Then since breed doesn't really matter, just get the nicest rooster you can. If you have bantams, then don't get a really big rooster, but that's all that matters.
